John Andrews account books, 1818-1844.

Ledger and cashbook kept by John Andrews, possibly of Lynn, Mass. The ledger, which was kept between 1818-20, contains accounts for metal smith items sold to various ships including the brigs Charles, Prudent, and Water Witch; and various commercial enterprises in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire such as the Boston and Roxbury Mill Corporation, and the New England Glass Company. Also includes an index. Cashbook, kept between 1839-44, contains records of goods purchased possibly for a hotel or boardinghouse in Lynn, Mass. Includes daily record of cash paid for food, household chores such as cleaning and repairs, wood for fuel and furniture, and other everyday expenses. Also includes records of town events such as deaths, weather, and parties. It is not clear if two account books were kept by the same John Andrews.

John Andrews was a physician who resided in 1793 in Philadelphia, Pa. He received his M.D. from the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania in 1793.
